Graduate Program in Psychology

Brief Overview of the Program!

Academic Degree: Master of Psychology (univ. mag. psych.)

Duration of Study: 4 semesters

Completion of Studies: A minimum of 120 ECTS credits, passing all exams, and defending the thesis.

The program consists of compulsory courses that all students must successfully complete, as well as elective courses from various branches of psychology, grouped into thematic modules.

In each semester, students enroll in compulsory and elective courses (at least 30 ECTS credits).

In general, students are assessed in all courses throughout the semester through continuous assessment (midterms, tests, etc.) and various teaching activities in lectures, seminars, and exercises (70% of the final grade) and a final exam (30% of the final grade). This model encourages students to learn continuously and successfully master the curriculum.

What Will You Learn? The Graduate Program in Psychology enables students to acquire the necessary professional knowledge and skills essential for practicing psychology. Students gain theoretical and methodological knowledge, as well as professional and specific skills that are integral to contemporary professional training for psychologists, as outlined in the European Diploma in Psychology. These include knowledge and skills in general, biological, developmental, social, clinical, and health psychology, work psychology, school psychology, and educational psychology, along with knowledge and skills in research methods in social sciences and statistical data processing methods.

Program for Acquiring Teaching Competencies The Program for Acquiring Teaching Competencies (PN) is a lifelong learning program. Integrating PN with the studies offered by the University has proven necessary for ensuring that students acquire competencies qualifying them to work in educational institutions.
Additional courses that students take in this program (psychological, pedagogical, didactic, methodological, etc.) enable them to acquire professional knowledge and skills such as:

  • Developing pedagogical competencies;

  • Activating and encouraging students to learn;

  • Creating and supporting a stimulating learning environment;

  • Organizing learning themes;

  • Planning teaching and learning processes;

  • Assessing and evaluating knowledge.

Upon completion of this program, students receive a Certificate. The Certificate serves as proof that the student has met the requirements for working in an educational institution as stipulated by the Law on Education in Primary and Secondary Schools (according to Article 105) and has earned 60 ECTS credits in pedagogical competencies, which is also one of the necessary conditions for taking the professional exam.

What Comes After Graduation? After completing the Graduate Program, students will be qualified to perform psychological work in activities related to education, health care, social welfare, vocational guidance and employment, work organization, communication, promotion, marketing, research, sports, transportation, judiciary, police, and military services.

Completion of the Graduate Program also meets the requirements for enrollment in the doctoral program.
