MEF professors and students marked World Kidney Day

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, World Kidney Day was celebrated at KBC Sestre Milosrdnice, organized by the staff of the Department of Nephrology and Arterial Hypertension of the Clinic of Internal Medicine and the Clinical Department of Chemistry, and under the auspices of the Croatian Kidney Society and the Croatian League for Hypertension.
 

The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness among the general population about the importance of early detection of chronic kidney disease, which is often unrecognized due to the absence of symptoms in the early stages of the disease.
 

The action included measuring arterial blood pressure and blood vessel stiffness as leading risk factors and determining albumin in urine as the earliest marker of kidney damage. The action was supported by the Dean of the School of Medicine, Prof. Dalibor Karlović and the Vice-Dean, Assoc. Prof. Vjekoslav Peitl, together with students of the CUC's School of Medicine.
