Student of sociology and theological-religious sciences gave a comment for Glas Koncila

In the Prilika section of the weekly magazine Glas Koncila published on March 9, 2025, under the Power of Data section, Petra Kašnar, a second-year student in the undergraduate double major Theological and Religious Sciences at the Faculty of Theology and Sociology at our University, commented on the analyzed research that examined children's motor skills.
"Digitalization has become synonymous with progress, but for children and their motor skills it is a big step backwards, and this should definitely worry us. It is clear that children have become addicted to 'smartphones' and screens, and they often encounter great difficulties in situations where they need to separate real life from virtual life. For them, this boundary almost does not exist. I believe that as many social and life activities as possible should be introduced into children's daily lives, such as board games, socializing and sports, as well as usual household chores. As a result, children have less time, but also less need to spend time in front of screens," said our student Petra Kašnar.
Student Petra Kašnar often discusses similar topics in podcasts of the Youth for the Homeland association, of which she is a member, and also works in the Youth Pastoral of the Zagreb Archdiocese. Considering her systematic engagement with children and young people, Petra said: "Studying sociology and theology has certainly contributed to my having an even more pronounced reflection on the topic itself and a sociological perspective on the results of the research," and you can read more about the research conducted on this important and current topic in the Glas Koncila article.
