Welcome Day held for Erasmus+ students at the Catholic University of Croatia
On Monday, February 23, a Welcome Day was held for incoming Erasmus+ students who will spend the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at the Catholic University of Croatia.
In the second part of the academic year, CUC welcomed students from Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and France, who chose Zagreb and the Catholic University of Croatia as their international study destination.
The gathered students were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Jasna Ćurković Nimac, PhD, who emphasized the importance of internationalization, openness to diversity, and the active involvement of students in the academic and social life of the University. She also highlighted that Erasmus mobility represents more than an academic exchange - it is an opportunity for personal growth, intercultural dialogue, and the creation of lasting friendships.
The students were introduced to the Heads of University Departments and ECTS coordinators, who will serve as their primary academic support during their stay, assisting with courses, exams, and study obligations. As part of the program, an introduction to Croatian history, culture, and language was delivered by Assistant Matea Jurić Matulić from the Department of History, providing students with valuable insight into the social and cultural context of the country in which they will spend the coming months. Special emphasis was also placed on the importance of mental health and the process of adapting to a new environment. A lecture on this topic was given by Maja Žutić, PhD, Senior Assistant at the Department of Psychology, who presented the institutional support available to students during their stay at the University.
Representatives of ESN Zagreb (Erasmus Student Network) also took part in the program, presenting activities aimed at integrating international students into the social and cultural life of Zagreb.
The official part of the program concluded with a Holy Mass celebrated in English, presided over by the Rector of the University, Prof. Željko Tanjić, PhD, together with University Chaplain Branimir Jagodić.
The Welcome Day once again confirmed the strong commitment of the Catholic University of Croatia to international cooperation and to creating an open, supportive, and inclusive academic environment.
