National professional and scholarly conference “At the crossroads of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period” held at the Catholic University of Croatia
Ahead of the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács, the national professional and scholarly conference for history teachers “At the crossroads of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period” was held at the Catholic University of Croatia on August 27 and 28.
The conference was jointly organized by the University Department of History of the Catholic University of Croatia and the Education and Teacher Training Agency, bringing together more than 170 history teachers from across Croatia.
Through lectures and discussions, scholars examined the Battle of Mohács within the broader context of the political, social, religious, and cultural changes that shaped Croatia and Central Europe in the 16th century. Particular attention was also given to later interpretations of Mohács in historiography, literature, and the culture of remembrance.
An important part of the conference also consisted of practical workshops for teachers, linking scholarly insights with concrete challenges in history teaching. This year's conference was the fifth in the series of joint conferences organized by the Catholic University of Croatia and the Education and Teacher Training Agency.
