Leali Osmančević, PhD, Held Lecture and Workshop "Speaking with Credibility: Communication and Public Speaking Skills for Future Mediators"

On Friday, October 9, 2026, a lecture and interactive workshop titled "Speaking with Credibility: Communication and Public Speaking Skills for Future Mediators" was held at the Croatian Mediation Association (HUM), organized for two students from the United States and future mediators. The lecture and workshop were delivered by Leali Osmančević, PhD, Senior Assistant at the University Department of Communication Studies of the Catholic University of Croatia.

The workshop focused on developing communication skills, public speaking, and credibility in communication, with special emphasis on their significance in mediation. Effective expression, active listening, and the ability to build trust represent essential competencies for future mediators, particularly in scenarios requiring constructive dialogue and conflict resolution.

Through a series of practical exercises and interactive activities, the students became acquainted with the foundational principles of public speaking, methods for structuring and delivering speeches, and public presentation techniques. Particular emphasis was placed on applying acquired knowledge: the students prepared and delivered their own speeches, receiving individualized feedback and recommendations for further developing their presentation and communication skills.

The workshop bridged theoretical insights with hands-on learning, underscoring the critical role of communicative competence in the professional practice of future mediators.
