The XIX International Scientific Conference Mediterranean Roots of Philosophy entitled "Philosophia perennis: on the 800th anniversary of the birth of St. Thomas Aquinas", which was held on 3 and 4 April 2025 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Split, was attended by Assoc. Prof. Miriam Mary Brgles and Assistant Lovro Knežević from the University Department of Sociology.

Associate Professor Brgles, together with co-authors, Prof. Vladimir Dugalić and Assoc. Prof. Ana Begić, gave a presentation entitled "The Contemporaneity of Thought on the Friendship of St. Thomas and the Social Friendship of Pope Francis". In her part of the presentation, Associate Professor Brgles presented the connection between relational sociology and social sciences through the authors Donati, Zamagni, Spadaro and Petrini with the encyclical "Fratelli Tutti" by Pope Francis, emphasizing the "female contribution" and the ethics of care in Raffaella Petrini, as well as Pierpaolo Donati's advocacy for the formation of a sociology of affective care.

Assistant Knežević presented a paper entitled "Sociales actus humani: dialogue of Thomism and Hedström's analytical sociology", which he prepared in co-authorship with Assoc. prof. Josip Ježovita and Assoc. prof. Miriam Mary Burgles. In his presentation, he presented the possibilities of a dialogue between Thomism and Hedström's analytical sociology using a series of examples, particularly highlighting the DBO (Desires, Beliefs, Opportunities) model. After all sessions, interesting discussions were held and the presenters answered questions from the audience.
