Professor Čivljak Delivered a Lecture on Smoking Among Young People at the Ante Bruno Bušić Student Dormitory

Professor Marta Čivljak, PhD, from the Faculty of Health Studies delivered a lecture on 2 March 2026 at the Ante Bruno Bušić Student Dormitory in Zagreb entitled “Smoking Among Young People – What Everyone Should Know.”

The aim of the lecture was to familiarise students with the health risks associated with smoking and the use of e-cigarettes, while also encouraging the development of responsible behaviour and a critical attitude towards the use of tobacco and nicotine products.

During the lecture, students learned more about the health consequences that smoking can have, particularly at a younger age, as well as about the increasingly frequent use of e-cigarettes and other nicotine products among young people. They were also introduced to strategies used by the tobacco industry to attract and recruit young smokers, with a particular emphasis on marketing and new nicotine products.

The lecture took place in a pleasant and engaging atmosphere and encouraged discussion among the students, who asked numerous questions that Professor Čivljak was happy to answer. On that occasion, she also presented the Catholic University of Croatia and the study programmes offered there, and invited the students to attend the University’s Open Day planned for March 2026.
