Maja Žutić, PhD, Participated in the "Mom, Breathe!" Panel on Maternal Mental Health

Senior Assistant Maja Žutić, PhD, from the University Department of Psychology, participated in May 2026 in the "Mom, Breathe!" (Mama, diši!) panel as part of the Affidea Care Talk event, organized by Affidea Croatia. The event brought together experts from the fields of medicine and psychology, as well as public figures and mothers who spoke openly about the challenges of pregnancy, the postpartum period, and motherhood.

Affidea Care Talk "Mom, Breathe!" was dedicated to the importance of women's physical and mental health through all stages of motherhood, emphasizing the need for open conversation on topics that are often stigmatized or insufficiently visible to the public. Through a multidisciplinary approach, participants discussed the emotional burden of motherhood, feelings of guilt, exhaustion, postpartum mental health difficulties, and the importance of timely support and seeking help.

Dr. Žutić spoke about the psychological challenges of early parenthood, women's mental health after childbirth, and the importance of emotional preparation for motherhood. She placed special emphasis on normalizing conversations about psychological difficulties and the need to create a safe space where women can openly discuss their experiences without feelings of shame or judgment. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of equalizing care for the physical and mental health of pregnant women and mothers in Croatia.
