International conference "Medieval Rural Space" on CUC
On Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17, 2024, the international scientific conference "Medieval Rural Space" was held at our University as part of the scientific project "Topography of the Medieval Zagreb County (14th-16th centuries)" (IP-2020-02-8706 ) financed by the Croatian Science Foundation. The conference was jointly organized by the Catholic University of Croatia and the Scientific Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Historical Institute "Milka Kosa" from Ljubljana.
Prof. Ph.D. Željko Tanjić, rector of the Croatian Catholic University, and Ph.D. Petra Svoljšak, director of the Scientific Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, "Milka Kosa" Historical Institute opened the conference.
The conference was attended by a number of scientists from several countries, such as Spain, Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Slovenia, Costa Rica and Croatia. The plenary presentation on the topic "Dealing with Past, Dealing with Present" was held by prof. Ph.D. Isabel Alfonso from the Instituto de Historia of CSIC, Madrid, Spain, one of the world's leading experts on the subject of medieval rural areas. This was followed by 16 presentations divided into four sections. The focus of the presentation was on various aspects of life in medieval rural areas, where the emphasis was placed on the latest methodological approaches to the research of the topic, as well as the comparison of experiences from different historiographies.
