Guest Lecture by Dr. Dragan Nimac

On Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at the invitation of Assist. Prof. Damir Mravunac, PhD, Dr. Dragan Nimac from the Institute for Migration Research delivered a guest lecture as part of the course Introduction to the Sociology of Culture.

Dr. Nimac introduced students to the topic “Intangible Cultural Heritage in Social Change: Community, Identity and the Challenges of Migration.” The lecture explored how artificial intelligence influences the interpretation of heritage, collective memory, and the shaping of identity. Particular emphasis was placed on the emerging role of artificial intelligence as a new actor in society.

The lecture encouraged students to reflect on contemporary challenges, critical thinking, and the role of technology in preserving tradition, thereby linking the theoretical framework of the course with real social changes.

A dynamic discussion developed as part of the lecture.
