Brief Overview of the Program!
Academic Title: University Master of Sociology (univ. mag. soc.)
Duration of Study: 4 semesters
Completion Requirements: At least 120 ECTS credits, passing all exams, and defending the master’s thesis.
In line with assessments of the needs of the current social context, labor market demands, and the latest trends in the education of sociology graduates, students are offered a university graduate study program in Sociology: Governance and Public Policy.
Each semester, students enroll in mandatory and elective courses (at least 30 ECTS credits).
Typically, students are assessed in all courses throughout the semester through continuous knowledge testing (midterms, quizzes, etc.) and various academic activities during lectures, seminars, and practical classes (70% of the final grade), along with a final exam (30% of the final grade). This model encourages students to study continuously and master the course content more effectively.

What will you learn?
At this level of study, students are offered comprehensive theoretical and methodological knowledge and are expected to acquire professional and specific skills necessary for the work of a sociologist and for further academic advancement. Students will gain in-depth knowledge, develop necessary competencies and skills in areas such as sociology of settlements, territory and environment, governance and public policies, social ethics, as well as in specific theoretical and methodological areas of sociology. Additionally, students will acquire knowledge in the fields of economics and law.
Teacher Qualification Program
The Teacher Qualification Program (PN) is a lifelong learning program. Integrating the PN with university studies has proven necessary to ensure the acquisition of competencies that qualify students to work in educational institutions. Additional courses within this program (psychological, pedagogical, didactic, methodological, etc.) enable students to acquire professional knowledge and skills such as:
Developing pedagogical competencies
Engaging and motivating students to learn
Creating and maintaining a stimulating learning environment
Organizing learning topics
Planning lessons and teaching/learning processes
Assessing and evaluating knowledge
Upon completion of this program, students are issued a Certificate. This certificate serves as proof that the student has met the legal requirements for working in a school institution under the Law on Education in Primary and Secondary Schools (Article 105), and has acquired 60 ECTS credits in pedagogical competencies. It is also one of the prerequisites for taking the professional teaching certification exam.
What comes after graduation?
After completing the university graduate study program, students will be qualified to work in bodies of state or public administration, diplomatic service, media, publishing institutions, tourism, education, cultural, and other institutions. Upon graduation, students also meet the requirements to enroll in a doctoral program.
