World Heart Day Marked at the Faculty of Health Studies of the CUC

On the occasion of World Heart Day, a public health initiative featuring preventive check-ups and education titled "Every Beat Matters" ("Svaki otkucaj je važan") was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Faculty of Health Studies of the Catholic University of Croatia.
 

The initiative took place in the Skills Lab of the Faculty of Health Studies, where university employees had the opportunity to undergo a preventive cardiovascular examination.
 

During the three-hour initiative, around 40 participants took part and were examined. The preventive program included anthropometric measurements (height and weight measurements and calculation of body mass index (BMI)), diagnostic procedures (blood pressure, pulse, and blood glucose level (BGL) measurements), ECG diagnostics (recording a 12-lead electrocardiogram), cardiovascular risk assessment, and professional consultations along with individual medical specialist advice.

As part of the health screening, newly identified cases as well as previously known but uncontrolled hypertension were detected among several participants. All participants with abnormal findings were provided with individualized counseling by a cardiologist and a diabetologist, accompanied by detailed recommendations on lifestyle adjustments, dietary control, and instructions to consult their family physician for further diagnostics or therapy adjustments.
