Students develop innovative solutions using a robotic dog as part of the Robotics Talent Lab workshop

From September 21 to 25, the Robotics Talent Lab workshop was held with the aim of encouraging young people’s interest in robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced digital technologies. The workshop was led by Professor Zlatan Car, PhD, Jelena Štifanić, PhD, Daniel Štifanić, PhD, and Emilija Sarić, MEng in Electrical Engineering from Catholic University of Croatia.

During the five-day programme, which consisted of two days online and three days in person, seven participants had the opportunity to develop their own project solutions using a robotic dog platform through practical and teamwork-based activities. Particular emphasis was placed on developing programming skills, problem-solving, testing, and presenting results.

The participants developed two innovative projects. A team from Požega Technical School - Patrik Kokić, Mihael Kokić, Dora Satinović, and David Mikačić – developed “RobDely”, a concept for a robotic dog designed to deliver groceries. Using a mobile application, the robot can be sent to a store to collect a pre-prepared order.

Students from Metković Secondary School - Frane Oršulić, Lovre Šprlje, and Boško Šutalo - presented the “Robo-dog Guide”, a solution in which a robotic dog welcomes visitors to the school and, using voice commands or a web application, guides them to their desired destination.

The workshop enabled participants to transform their ideas into concrete technological solutions and, through creativity, collaboration, and hands-on work, explore the possibilities offered by modern robotics and artificial intelligence.
