Senior Teaching Assistant Filip Hren visited the Military History Institute in Sweden
Filip Hren, PhD, Senior Teaching Assistant at the University Department of History, stayed at the Department of Military History of the Swedish Defence University (Institutionen för militärhistoria/Försvarshögskolan) in Stockholm from March 2 to April 1, 2026, as part of an Erasmus+ staff mobility.

His host there was the renowned world historian Prof. Steve Murdoch, former director of the institute and long-time professor at the prestigious University of St Andrews in Scotland. During his stay in Stockholm, Dr. Hren delivered a lecture at the International Military History Seminar, which brings together numerous military historians from Europe and around the world, and attended various presentations at the university and other relevant institutions.

He also exchanged ideas with colleagues from Sweden, Finland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and the United States on teaching processes and contemporary scholarly approaches to the study of military history. During his stay, he researched specific connections between Swedish, Scottish, and Croatian soldiers during the Thirty Years’ War (1618–1648) at the Swedish Military Archives (Riksarkivet/Krigsarkivet), the Swedish National Library (Kungliga biblioteket), the Anna Lindh University Library, and the Swedish Army Museum (Armemuseum).
