Professor Majnarić and Dr. Bećir Receive the “Tadija Smičiklas” Award at Kliofest 2025
At Kliofest 2025, the “Tadija Smičiklas” Award for the publication of archival material was presented to prof. dr. sc. Ivan Majnarić and dr. sc. Ante Bećir for their collection entitled Introitus et exitus communium mediaevalium Adriatici orientalis. Volum I. Spalatum et Tragurium / Records of Revenues and Expenditures of Medieval Eastern Adriatic Cities. Volume I: Split and Trogir.

The book, prepared by prof. dr. sc. Ivan Majnarić and dr. sc. Ante Bećir, is the result of their meticulous work on the transcription and analysis of archival materials of great importance for the history of the late medieval cities of Split and Trogir, and more broadly, for the medieval Kingdoms of Dalmatia and Croatia.
This work represents a highly valuable contribution to historiography, offering a thoroughly critical edition of a corpus of medieval documents in Latin that provide insight into the economic and administrative life of the eastern Adriatic cities—specifically, Split and Trogir. These are registers of revenues and expenditures from the 14th and 15th centuries, which are invaluable sources for the study of municipal finance, trade, governance, and resource distribution in medieval Dalmatia.
Through this publication, the authors provide the academic community with a complete transcription and modern editorial treatment of the documents, accompanied by regesta in both Croatian and Italian. The introductory study, also presented in Croatian and Italian, contextualizes the material and situates it within the broader development of municipal treasuries and the formation of income and expenditure systems in the medieval cities of the eastern Adriatic.
