Lecture on the Spiritual Dimension of Childbirth Held at the Catholic University of Croatia

On Wednesday, 29 April 2026, Elizabeta Biličić, associate of the Centre for the Family at the Catholic University of Croatia, delivered a lecture titled “Can the Spiritual Dimension Influence Childbirth?” In her presentation, she shared insights gained from working with more than 50 women in childbirth.

She emphasized the deep interconnection between psychological, spiritual, and neurohormonal processes, highlighting that—despite prior experiences and fears—childbirth can become an emotionally and spiritually fulfilling experience.

Particular importance was given to quality communication in preparation for childbirth, as a means of building trust, as well as to respecting each woman’s personal relationship toward suffering and life. She also stressed the importance of involving the father in the process, empowering him to provide meaningful support to both the mother and the child.

The session was further enriched by testimonies from mothers who shared their personal experiences of childbirth following such spiritual preparation.
