International postgraduate course “Antimicrobial susceptibility testing with EUCAST criteria and methods” held at the Catholic University of Croatia

From September 9 to 11, 2026, the international postgraduate course “Antimicrobial susceptibility testing with EUCAST criteria and methods” was held in the lecture rooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine at the Catholic University of Croatia, bringing together 46 participants from 22 countries.

During the three-day programme, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in antimicrobial susceptibility testing through lectures and practical laboratory work. Particular attention was given to the criteria and methods of the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST), the interpretation of test results, and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of laboratory work.

The course was intended for clinical microbiologists, infectious disease specialists, laboratory professionals, clinical pharmacists, and other medical professionals. Participants also learned about the application of EUCAST methodology in microbiology laboratories, with the programme combining theoretical and practical work.

The course was organized by the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST), the Croatian Society for Clinical Microbiology of the Croatian Medical Association, and the Faculty of Medicine at the Catholic University of Croatia.
