Fourth Continuing Education Course "New Guidelines in the Classification and Treatment of Burns" Held at CUC
On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Catholic University of Croatia hosted the fourth continuing education course entitled "New Guidelines in the Classification and Treatment of Burns." The Category I course, intended for physicians, nurses, and medical technicians, was held in the "Bl. Alojzije Card. Stepinac" Hall, co-organized by the Faculty of Health Studies of the Catholic University of Croatia and the European Wound Management Association (EWMA).
At the opening of the event, attendees were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies, Asst. Prof. Ivica Matić, PhD, who expressed his satisfaction that such training, with EWMA's participation, was taking place at the Catholic University of Croatia. He thanked Asst. Prof. Sandra Marinović Kulišić, PhD, for her initiative and contribution to advancing education in wound care, as well as Prof. Marta Čivljak, PhD, for coordinating the organization of the event. He conveyed his hope for ongoing collaboration and affirmed the Faculty's readiness to support future initiatives, both in organizing professional symposiums and educational programs and in preparing textbooks and handbooks currently lacking in this field.
The program covered the comprehensive care pathway for burn injuries—ranging from anatomical foundations and classification, first aid, and primary management, to surgical treatment, topical therapy, and psychological care for the patient.
The fourth edition of the course continued the collaborative efforts focused on continuous professional development and networking among healthcare professionals in wound management. Participation in the course was accredited under the regulations of the Croatian Medical Chamber and the Croatian Chamber of Nurses.
