Assistant Professor Batinić at the Global Symposium on Service-Learning: Service-Learning in a Fragile World
Asst. Prof. Lana Batinić, Ph.D., from the University Department of Psychology, visited the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Germany) from 5 to 8 November as part of the Erasmus+ staff training mobility programme. On 6 and 7 November, the University hosted the 6th global symposium Service-Learning in a Fragile World: Universities Nourishing Peace and Hope. Dr. Batinić participated as a representative of our University, with the aim of establishing international cooperation and including CUC in the global Uniservitate network, which connects Catholic higher education institutions worldwide seeking to strengthen their community-engaged learning practices.

The key objective of the programme is to create systemic change through the institutionalisation of service-learning with the goal of providing holistic education to new generations of students while engaging them in active commitment to the social challenges of our time.

The Uniservitate community includes leading Catholic universities from all five continents. During the symposium, their representatives eagerly shared knowledge and experience related to courses and programmes that involve active student participation in projects aimed at the well-being of the community. Among the speakers were Prof. Taras Dobko, Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University; Prof. Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of the Catholic University of Portugal; and Dr. Montserrat Alom Bartolí, representing the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU).
