Archival research at the State Archives in Varaždin
In early October 2026, further archival research was conducted as part of the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) project “The Formation of the Territorial State in Late Medieval Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia: Socio-Political and Administrative Transformations” (CroDaSTrans, IP-2025-02-4345), carried out at the Catholic University of Croatia.
Éva B. Halász, PhD, a research associate on the project, conducted research at the State Archives in Varaždin, where she systematically examined and analysed late medieval archival materials. Her research included a review of the archival collections of the Administration of the Free and Royal Privileged Market Town of Krapina, the Vragović Family, the Bedeković Family and the Castellanffy Family. During this work, she identified documents missing from the so-called DF Collection of the Hungarian National Archives.
The archival data collected will provide further insights into the administrative processes in late medieval Slavonia.
