Head of International Cooperation Office Participates in Staff Week Programme in Poland

From 20 to 25 April 2026, Anamarija Čulo Bačarka, LLM, Head of the International Cooperation Office at the Catholic University of Croatia, took part in the international Staff Week programme “Mission-Driven Internationalization: Building Responsible Global Engagement,” organised by the Ukrainian Catholic University and held in Wrocław, Poland.

The programme focused on rethinking internationalisation as a process grounded in the mission of the institution itself, with an emphasis on responsible and value-based global engagement. Participants discussed how higher education institutions can better align their international activities—such as partnerships and mobility—with their institutional identity, ethical principles, and societal role, particularly in the context of contemporary challenges and uncertainties.

The programme also showcased modern forms of international collaboration, including COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) activities and the Global Talks initiative, which enable virtual knowledge exchange and stronger connections between students and faculty across countries. Special attention was given to the role of universities in society—the so-called “third mission” of higher education—referring to active community engagement and contribution to the common good.

Participation in the programme provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore examples of good practice with colleagues from various European higher education institutions, as well as to establish new contacts and open up possibilities for future cooperation.
