Guest Lecture by Dr. Nika Đuho Vulin at the Faculty of Croatian Studies
On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, Dr. Nika Đuho Vulin, Senior Assistant at the University Department of Sociology of the Catholic University of Croatia, delivered a guest lecture as part of the courses Society and Sustainability and Sociology and Space at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, at the invitation of Assist. Prof. Ivan Perkov, PhD.

The lecture examined city markets as complex socio-spatial phenomena in the contemporary urban context. Through an overview of different market modalities and an analysis of empirical data, particular emphasis was placed on their social dimension—especially the role of direct communication and trust in the act of purchasing.

The lecture also addressed the role of markets in the context of sustainability, highlighting their capacity to integrate economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. In this sense, markets were presented as vital and resilient urban institutions.
