Assistant Vidulić at a Workshop by Fact-Checking Agency "StopFake" and "Google News Initiative"

Assistant at the University Department of Communication Studies, Matea Vidulić, participated on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in a workshop on fact-checking and combating the spread of disinformation related to the war in Ukraine.

The workshop was led by journalist Sonya Dimitrova from the Ukrainian fact-checking agency StopFake, in collaboration with the Google News Initiative and the International Fact-Checking Organizations. Dimitrova shared with the gathered representatives of the diplomatic corps, journalists, and educators various examples of exposing Russian propaganda during the agency’s ten years of operation.

The workshop highlighted methods for predicting informational threats. Several case studies were discussed, and AI-generated photos and videos were analyzed, along with tools designed to detect them. Participants exchanged their thoughts and experiences, emphasizing the importance of media literacy for the elderly population.

The workshop took place at the European House in Zagreb and was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Croatia and the Ukrainian Community of the City of Zagreb.

Vidulić is involved in teaching the "Integration-Education Program" for Ukrainian refugees and in the Communication Studies Department project "Critical Analysis of Disinformation on Religious Topics."
