The patron feast of the University Department of Communication Studies is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, celebrated on March 25, nine months before Christmas. The name "Annunciation of the Lord" refers to the event described in the Gospel of Luke (1:26–38), when God sent the angel Gabriel to Mary in Nazareth to announce that she would conceive and bear a son, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. To this, Mary responded with readiness: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.”
The term "Blagovijest," derived from Old Slavonic, signifies a good or glad tidings. This aspect of communication—bringing good news—was the inspiration for the Department of Communication Studies to choose this solemnity as its patronal feast. The department celebrates its Day on March 25, reflecting its dedication to the mission of conveying meaningful and positive messages, following the example of this profound moment of divine communication.
