About the Program

Academic Title: University Master of Communication Studies (univ. mag. comm.)
Program Duration: 4 semesters
Completion Requirements: Minimum of 120 ECTS credits, passing all exams, and defending a master’s thesis

Students will take core courses along with specialized groups of courses to deepen their knowledge and develop competencies in journalism and public relations. Students choose one of two offered specializations:

  • Intercultural Communication and Journalism

  • Media Research and Public Relations


After the second semester, students will gain practical experience through collaboration and work with media institutions or relevant organizations, familiarizing themselves with the demands of their profession.

Each semester, students enroll in mandatory and elective courses, totaling at least 30 ECTS credits.

Student evaluations are conducted continuously throughout the semester via midterms, tests, and participation in lectures, seminars, and exercises (70% of the final grade), along with a final exam (30% of the final grade). This system promotes consistent learning and better mastery of the material.

What will you learn? 
Master's degree in communication studies enables the acquisition of skills and professional knowledge that are necessary for effective communication in various fields, as well as for further scientific training. Namely, successful communication in today's globalized world presupposes knowledge of different cultures, social and communication processes, new media systems, but also competence in conducting scientific research so that, based on the obtained results, they can manage communications, i.e. work in relation to the public in different areas.

What after graduation?
After completing the university graduate studies, students will be trained to design media programs and projects and to work in journalism (print and agency journalism, radio journalism, television journalism, online journalism, etc.) and public relations, etc.

Completion of the university graduate study meets the requirements for admission to doctoral studies.
