Research and Participation
Adolescence and the transition to adulthood are periods of major change. During this time, we develop abilities that help us make decisions, regulate our behaviour, adapt to new situations, and build relationships with others. Although development is often considered to be most intensive during childhood, research shows that important cognitive and social abilities continue to develop throughout adolescence and into adulthood.
The CASCADE project aims to better understand how these abilities change during development and how they are related to changes occurring in the brain. By combining different research approaches, we aim to gain a more comprehensive understanding of young people’s development and contribute to a better understanding of their needs during this important period of life.

We are recruiting participants from three age groups:
- adolescents aged 14–17 years,
- young adults aged 18–24 years,
- adults aged 25–35 years.

By taking part in the study, you become part of a scientific project that aims to better understand how different abilities develop throughout life. You will have the opportunity to experience what working in a psychology laboratory looks like, participate in engaging tasks, and learn more about how attention, memory, and different cognitive processes work.
The study also includes EEG recording, during which you will be able to see how brain activity is recorded while completing different tasks. The research is conducted at the Laboratory for Psychological Research at the Catholic University of Croatia, with the support of members of the research team who will guide you throughout the entire process.

Participation in the study is voluntary. Before the study begins, you will receive all necessary information about the procedure and your rights, and you may withdraw from participation at any time.
Your privacy and data protection are an important part of this research. All collected data will be treated confidentially and used exclusively for scientific research purposes. Research results will be presented in an aggregated form, so individual participants cannot be identified, in accordance with ethical principles of psychological research and privacy protection regulations.
