The period of study brings numerous challenges and opportunities, and requires adaptation to some different, new circumstances and situations. New circumstances can be stimulating, but also frustrating and stressful. A person can adapt to them with their own ways of coping with stress, with the support of friends, family, with the help of religion, but it also happens that adaptation causes a significant level of stress and negatively affects mental health.
If you notice that you have a hard time dealing with normal life stresses, you don't realize your potential, you have trouble functioning (at school, with friends, family,...), if the emotions you experience are mostly unpleasant (sadness, anger, fear, tension,...) or if you have any other mental health problems, contact the Psychological Counseling Center. The appointment is arranged via e-mail: psih.savjetovaliste@unicath.hr
What to expect from counseling?
- better and clearer perception and understanding of problems that create difficulties in functioning (thoughts and emotions related to the problem)
- learning and practicing new coping/problem-solving strategies that will lead to more functional behavior
- active participation
- the number of meetings depends on the problem and motivation
- the counselor can also refer you to another specialist if he thinks that your symptoms require different treatment
We wish you successful studies, lots of new knowledge, friendships, opportunities and possibilities!
