Staff of the Laudato si’ Center at the Conference “All Creatures Tell of Your Glory” in Sarajevo
On Tuesday and Wednesday, 21 and 22 October 2025, the University Laudato si’ Center for Christian Responsibility and Care for Creation participated in the conference “All Creatures Tell of Your Glory” held in the St. Francis of Assisi Hall in Sarajevo, marking the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures.

The conference was organized by the Center for Peace Education, the Movement for Ecological Christian Action, the Franciscan Province of the Holy Cross Bosna Srebrena, and the Center for Advanced Studies (CNS).
Associate Professor Dr. Zoran Turza represented the Laudato si’ Center and delivered a lecture titled “From Francis of Assisi to Francis of Rome: The Franciscan Roots of Pope Francis’ Ecological Engagement.” Gabrijela Bajić, a collaborator of the Laudato si’ Center, also attended the conference.

The conference gathered participants from various countries and fields of activity, offering diverse and inspiring presentations on the relationship between humanity and creation, inspired by Franciscan spirituality and Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’.
A particularly noteworthy moment was the presentation of the book “Mizan – Covenant for Planet Earth,” which approaches the question of care for the Earth from an Islamic theological and ethical perspective. The book shares many of the same messages about responsibility for creation as the encyclical Laudato si’, enriching interreligious dialogue and highlighting the universality of ecological and spiritual awareness.
The participation of the Laudato si’ Center provided an opportunity for exchanging experiences, networking, and discussing potential future collaborations that are expected to take shape soon.
We thank the organizers for their hospitality, thoughtful organization, and the inspiring atmosphere that accompanied the entire conference.
