Sociologists Serve as Guest Editors and Co-Authors of a Special Issue of the Scientific Journal INDECS

The new issue of the international scientific journal INDECS – Interdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems is thematically dedicated to artificial intelligence and social change. The guest editors of the special issue Artificial Intelligence and Social Change are the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Ivana Brstilo Lovrić, PhD, and Assist. Prof. Josip Ježovita, PhD, from the University Department of Sociology at the Catholic University of Croatia, together with Assist. Prof. Erik Brezovec, PhD, from the Faculty of Croatian Studies.

In addition to sociologists, the special issue also includes contributions by sociology doctoral students from the Catholic University of Croatia, as well as scholars from other fields and institutions who provide an interdisciplinary analysis of the social effects of artificial intelligence—from changes in work and everyday life to issues of trust, ethics, and social inequalities related to the application of new technologies.

The special issue is based on empirical research on the attitudes of Croatian citizens toward artificial intelligence, presented at the scientific conference Artificial Intelligence and Social Change, held as part of the celebration of the Day of the University Department of Sociology (22 October 2025). The research was conducted on a representative sample of Croatian citizens, and data collection was carried out by the research agency Hendal using contemporary methodological standards.

All original scientific papers were published in English and present previously unpublished research insights into various aspects of social reality.
