Rector Tanjić and Dr. Schwartz Visit Sulkhan–Saba Orbeliani University in Tbilisi, Georgia
The Rector of the Catholic University of Croatia, Prof. Željko Tanjić, and Dr Thomas Schwartz, Director of the Renovabis Foundation of the German Bishops’ Conference, paid an official visit to Sulkhan–Saba Orbeliani University in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 1–2 December 2025. The visit took place within the framework of a long-standing cooperation among Catholic universities, with the continued support of the Renovabis Foundation for numerous academic and educational projects.

During their stay, working meetings were held with Rector Akaki Tchelidze, Vice-Rector Dimitri Gegenava, and former Rector Vaja Vardidze, with discussions focusing on achievements to date and plans for future cooperation. The delegation also met with Msgr Giuseppe Passotto, Apostolic Administrator of the Caucasus.
On this occasion, Rector Tanjić invited representatives of the Georgian university to attend the General Assembly of the European Federation of Catholic Universities, which will be hosted by the Catholic University of Croatia in May 2026.

The visit also included meetings with the Apostolic Nuncio to Georgia, Msgr Ante Jozić, and the Nunciature Counselor Msgr Aliaksandr Rahinian. Nuncio Jozić introduced the guests to the current activities and situation of the Catholic Church in the Caucasus and facilitated contacts with representatives of Caritas and other Church institutions in Georgia.
