Prof. Danijel Labaš, pHd, gave the first lecture at the conference "From media addiction to digital balance: how to raise students' awareness of the negative consequences of excessive internet use". Speaking about the advantages and risks of the digital age, he presented different types of internet addictions such as nomophobia, doomscrolling and compulsive internet use. He emphasized the negative consequences of such behaviors on physical and mental health, as well as on the social and educational life of young people. Research shows that content on social networks has a strong influence on individual feelings and that every second young person, aged 16 to 25, feels stress, loneliness or a lower level of self-confidence as a result. Finally, Prof. Labaš emphasized the importance of a positive approach to the digital world and encouraged the development of digital minimalism, which implies the conscious use of technology while developing critical thinking and spiritual maturity.

Danijel Labaš, Dr. Sc. Luka Maršić, Tomislav Budimir, Prof. Helena Balajić and Prof. Darija Pavić. Through a dynamic discussion, they touched on many challenges brought about by "invisible" addictions such as digital addiction, addiction to betting and games of chance, and addiction to dopamine from virtual interactions.
