MEDRI2025 – Updated Conference Programme
The second, updated version of the programme for MEDRI 2025 – the Second International Conference on Teaching and Learning in Medical Education – has been published. Following a series of successful initiatives aimed at advancing medical education in higher education, this year’s conference will be held under the theme FUTUREMED: A Transformative Era of Higher Education.
MEDRI 2025 holds particular significance as it marks the 70th anniversary of the University of Rijeka School of Medicine, serving as a ceremonial prelude to a week dedicated to commemorative events. Building on the exceptional success of the first conference held in 2023, which gathered more than 400 participants in person and 1,300 online, the aim is to establish a biennial tradition of gatherings that foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in medical education.
MEDRI 2025 will take place from November 27 to 29, 2025, at the Hotel Ambassador in Opatija. As in its first edition, the conference will bring together key stakeholders in medical education from across Croatia. This year, the programme will expand to include participants from neighbouring countries and the United States, further enriching regional and international exchanges of knowledge and best practices.
The conference is organised in collaboration with distinguished institutions, including the Croatian Medical Chamber, the Croatian Medical Association, the Faculty of Medicine in Maribor, the Faculty of Medicine in Mostar, the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, and the University of Rijeka, with the partnership of more than 20 higher education institutions, including four medical faculties in Croatia, among them the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Croatia. Assoc. Prof. Vjekoslav Peitl, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Cooperation with Teaching Bases at our Faculty of Medicine, is contributing to the organisation as a member of the Conference Science Committee.
MEDRI 2025 is open to teachers, students, healthcare professionals, academic leaders, and administrative staff involved in education in medicine and healthcare. The programme will address contemporary trends and challenges in medical education, with a focus on undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as teacher education through lifelong learning, particularly in the context of the ongoing digital transformation reshaping the higher education landscape. The conference will feature short lectures, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and poster presentations, showcasing best practices from institutions in Croatia and abroad. In addition, we are proud to announce a selection of transformative keynote lectures and an innovative talk-show format entitled Inspirational Sessions, designed to highlight the professional journeys of teachers and students who will inspire others with their personal stories.
