Book Presentation: “My Memories of Croatia – Jean-Michel, Born French, Died Croatian”


The book “Moje uspomene na Hrvatsku – Jean-Michel, rođen kao Francuz, umro kao Hrvat” (My Memories of Croatia – Jean-Michel, Born French, Died Croatian) by Ghislain Dubois, which tells the story of a young Frenchman killed defending Vukovar in 1991, will be presented on Sunday, 16 November 2025, at 8 p.m. in the Monastic and Parish Church of Blessed Augustin Kažotić in Zagreb’s Peščenica district (at the intersection of Vukovarska Street and Ivanićgradska Street).

At the presentation, alongside the author, speakers will include Lyliane Fournier, Jean-Michel Nicolier’s mother and author of the book’s foreword, and Associate Professor Alojz Ćubelić, Ph.D., a Dominican and professor at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, University of Zagreb.

Before the presentation, at 7 p.m., a Holy Mass for Jean-Michel and all defenders of Vukovar and Škabrnja will be celebrated in the church by Fr. Tomislav Kraljević, Provincial of the Croatian Dominican Province.
