BIP Project Summer School begins

The Summer School within the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) project, jointly organized by the Catholic University of Croatia, Goethe University Frankfurt, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and the University of Vienna, has officially begun.

The first online session was held on Friday, May 8, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, bringing together students and lecturers from partner institutions for a joint reflection on contemporary social and theological challenges. The introductory lectures were delivered by Dr. Andreas Telser and Associate Professor Zoran Turza, PhD. Andreas Telser presented the structure and goals of the program and introduced participants to the course of both the online and in-person parts of the Summer School, which will conclude in Šibenik.

Professor Zoran Turza spoke about David Tracy’s text On Naming the Present, reflecting on the question of the ‘spirit of the age’ and various interpretations of contemporary society - from modernity and anti-modernity to postmodernity. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of listening to the voices of marginalized and vulnerable groups, as well as on the need for dialogue and solidarity in addressing global challenges such as wars, migration, and the ecological crisis.

Following the introductory lectures, participants engaged in discussions in smaller groups and a joint exchange of impressions. This year’s Summer School brings together 35 students from the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Croatia.
