Assistant Professor Stipe Ledić delivers a popular science lecture
As part of the cultural event “Dani Aržana 2026”, Assistant Professor Stipe Ledić, PhD, delivered a popular science lecture entitled “Aržano in the 19th Century According to Sources from the Austrian Archives” on August 9.
During his research in Vienna in late July, two previously unknown archival documents and a military map of Aržano dating from 1835 were discovered.

The exceptionally well-attended lecture, held at the Josip Jović Memorial Centre, as well as the lively interest shown by the audience afterwards, demonstrate that the humanities have their place even in the run-up to a traditional summer festival.
Drawing on numerous reports, the lecture explored the lengthy process of constructing the parish house and the Church of All Saints, as well as the everyday hardships and circumstances faced by parishioners in this extremely impoverished area throughout the 19th century.
