Archival research in Bologna as part of the CroDaSTrans project

As part of the research activities of the Croatian Science Foundation project The Formation of the Territorial State in Late Medieval Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia: Socio-Political and Administrative Transformations (CroDaSTrans, IP-2025-02-4345), conducted at the Catholic University of Croatia, a new archival research visit has been carried out.

From July 6 to 8, 2026, project team member Dr. Antun Nekić conducted research at the Archivio di Stato di Bologna.

The research focused on collecting and analysing archival sources that shed light on the administrative and socio-political connections between the eastern Adriatic regions and this important historical centre. Particular attention was devoted to selected subseries of the Studio, poi Università di Bologna collection (1317–19th century), specifically Collegi legali (1317–1804), including the Registri di atti del Collegio canonico – Prima serie segnata A (1431–1575), as well as the archival collections Stati preunitari, Periodo comunale, Curia del podestà, Notai forensi, and Documenti del governo – Consigli ed ufficiali del comune, Podestà e capitani del popolo.
