Our PhD fellow Luka Poslon lecturer at the Summer School in Šibenik

PhD fellow Luka Poslon from the Digital Healthcare Ethics laboratory lectured at two summer schools: at the national term for Croatian youth from July 31 to August 6, 2023, and at the international term for youth from around the world from August 7 to August 13, 2023. Summer schools were organised in collaboration with World Youth Alliance Europe and  World Youth Alliance Croatia. One student of the Catholic University of Croatia from the Department of History participated in the summer school in the national term.

The aforementioned summer schools took place in Šibenik and brought together renowned experts in bioethics and human rights, intending to educate young people about today's important bioethical challenges that potentially threaten human dignity and empower young people to adequately respond to these challenges. Some of the topics at this summer schools' editions are presented through interactive lectures, workshops and debates: the right to life, freedom of conscience, artificial intelligence, population control, international adoption, and surrogacy.

Our doctoral student Poslon held five lectures, two of which were in Croatian, "Introduction to Bioethics" and "Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine," as well as presenting the work of the Digital Healthcare Ethics laboratory and participating in two panel discussions. The other three lectures were in English entitled "Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare," "Effects and Consequences of Surrogacy Today," and "Introduction to the Artificial Intelligence Ethics."

The World Youth Alliance is a nonprofit organisation that brings together young people between 18 and 30 from various fields of interest. Its mission is to promote and preserve human rights based on unalienable human dignity.
