Sociology Students and Professors Visit the Archdiocesan Classical Gymnasium
As part of activities aimed at popularizing sociological topics among young people and presenting the study programmes of the Catholic University of Croatia, representatives of the University Department of Sociology visited the Archdiocesan Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb. During March 2026, four lectures were held for senior-year students.
On this occasion, the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Ivana Brstilo Lovrić, PhD, together with first-year graduate sociology students Dora Reštigorac, Mona Cigrovski, and Ante Glasnović, introduced students to the sociology programme and the opportunities offered by the Catholic University of Croatia.
The central part of the visit was a thematic lecture by Assistant Lovro Knežević on the sociology of music. As an integral part of young people’s everyday lives, music represents a familiar yet sociologically relevant phenomenon that helps in understanding contemporary society. Through an analysis of the current Billboard charts in Croatia, students were introduced to the basic social functions of music and the roles of various actors—from creators to audiences—in shaping musical and social trends.
The visits took place in a very pleasant and stimulating atmosphere, with each meeting providing students an opportunity to learn more about the University, accompanied by strong interest and active participation. We thank Principal Ljuba Duvnjak and teacher Dragana Curić for their cooperation and look forward to future meetings.
