Researchers from the “AntibacHip” Project Participated in the FEMS EUROMAT 2025 Conference in Spain
The leader of the project Development of an Innovative Antibacterial Material for Hip Endoprosthesis – AntibacHip, Professor Tamara Holjevac Grgurić, Ph.D., and research associates Karla Knežević, univ. mag. chem., and Lucija Lasić, univ. mag. chem., participated with a presentation titled Cu modification of biomedical Ti-6Al-4V alloy at the FEMS EUROMAT 2025 conference held from 14 to 18 September 2025 in Granada, Spain.

Within the section Biomaterials for Infection Control, the researchers from the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University of Croatia presented results obtained through laser surface modification of a biomedical commercial titanium alloy with copper. In collaboration with researchers from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the University of Zagreb and the company Instrumentaria d.o.o., the properties of the developed material were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Vickers microhardness testing.

FEMS EUROMAT is a leading conference for scientists, researchers, and materials experts. The conference program covers almost all areas of materials science as well as interdisciplinary topics. As every year, FEMS EUROMAT gathered the most influential scientists from around the world in the field of materials science, providing valuable networking and learning opportunities for our researchers, fostering further collaboration and advancement of scientific work at the University.
