Representatives of the Catholic University of Croatia at the Global Gathering of the “Economy of Francesco” Community
The global gathering of the “Economy of Francesco” community was held from Friday, 28 to Sunday, 30 November 2025, at the Mariapolis Centre in Castel Gandolfo near Rome, as reported by the Catholic News Agency (IKA). Participants included representatives from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting focused on reflections about initiating economic transformation and developing new economic models that place people and the planet at the center. From the Croatian branch of the Economy of Francesco, led by Assoc. Prof. Marijana Kompes, PhD (mag. phil.) and Dr Bruno Petrušić, a total of 11 members took part.
Representatives of the Catholic University of Croatia (CUC) included faculty members from the University Chair of Theology and the University Department of Sociology. At the gathering, Assoc. Prof. Marijana Kompes from the University Chair of Theology presented the activities of the Croatian branch, reflected on the organization of the Summer School of the Economy of Francesco, which was held for the third time in 2025, and emphasized the importance of this program in promoting the values of the Economy of Francesco and the social teaching of the Church.
Assistant Professor Miriam Mary Brgles, PhD, from the University Department of Sociology, delivered a poster presentation entitled “Integral Youth Lifestyles: Redefinition and Factors That Create New Habits, Behaviours, and Actions” as a representative of the Croatian Hub.
