Course "Managing Personal Finances" in a Practical Way

Over the past three weeks, graduate students in sociology, communication studies, and history, who are taking the elective course Personal Financial Management, have visited several relevant institutions in the form of practical teaching.

After acquiring theoretical knowledge about personal financial management, students had the opportunity to meet with experts from institutions that directly or indirectly contribute to the effective management of individual personal finances and which, as part of their activities, encourage the development of financial literacy.

After gaining insight into the operations of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA), which is primarily responsible for regulating most participants in the financial system of the Republic of Croatia, the students visited the central bank and attended a lecture at the Croatian National Bank (HNB) on the development of the digital euro, which will become an additional payment method at the European Union level in the future. Finally, during their visit to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the students attended lectures related to the implementation of the household consumption survey and learned how this research is related to the calculation of the gross domestic product of the Croatian economy.

Along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sc. Roman Šubić from the University Department of Sociology, lectures were given as part of the practical classes by experts from all three mentioned institutions. With theoretical and practical knowledge about managing personal finances, the educational programs will certainly serve students in enriching their own financial literacy.
