Workshop “Opportunities and Threats for the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching”
The Media Literacy Center of the Catholic University of Croatia (CUC) and Školska knjiga are organising the workshop “Opportunities and Threats for the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching”, which will be held on Thursday, 28 May 2026, from 17:30 to 20:00 in the hall “Bl. Alojzije kard. Stepinac”. The workshop is intended for teachers and librarians in secondary schools.
Short description:
At this workshop, teachers will become acquainted with the main challenges in the application of selected generative artificial intelligence tools in the teaching process. The latest research (EU Kids Online) shows that 42.5% of students aged 10 to 16 use artificial intelligence tools for solving school assignments and writing essays. At the same time, teachers in Croatia recognise the potential of these tools in terms of saving time and individualisation of teaching, but they also warn about risks such as the reduction of student independence, the possibility of misuse, inaccuracy of information, and neglect of the importance of the human factor in education (BrAIn).
At the event, ten main challenges in the use of generative artificial intelligence for students and teachers will be presented. Tools that can encourage creativity of teachers and students will be demonstrated, as well as methods for verifying the authenticity of works, with examples of workshops that can be implemented within the Media Culture module or through extracurricular activities in all grades of secondary school.
