The Seventh School of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Held at the CUC Faculty of Medicine
After a long thirteen-year hiatus, the School of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology was held once again at the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Croatia. This year's seventh edition of the school took place on May 22 and 23, 2026, focusing on the theme: "United Airway – Airway Endoscopy." It was organized by the CUC Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of the Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital Center, and the Society for the Advancement of Croatian ORL, under the auspices of the Croatian Society for Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of the CMA and the Croatian Society for Pediatric Pulmonology.
The two-day program gathered 30 participants from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Italy. Through a series of professional lectures and discussions, emphasis was placed on the importance of a safe and interdisciplinary approach to children with respiratory difficulties.
A particular value of this year's School was its practical, hands-on segment, in which participants practiced methods of flexible fiberoptic endoscopy and rigid endoscopy of the airway in children.
A special guest and lecturer was Professor Antonino Maniaci from Sicily, an internationally recognized expert in the field of otorhinolaryngology, who delivered a presentation on nasal patency in children.
The organizers extended special thanks to the visionary behind the School, Professor Tomislav Baudoin, who initiated this project in 2005 and currently serves as the President of the Confederation of European Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.
Additionally, thanks were expressed to the Dean of the CUC Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dalibor Karlović, all lecturers, workshop leaders, the organizational team, and sponsors who made the successful implementation of the course possible. Finally, the organizers thanked the participants for their attendance, active participation, and the valuable exchange of experiences that contributes to the further development of this branch of medicine.
