Psychology Faculty Present at the 45th Annual Conference of the Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology (SRIP) in England
Faculty members from the University Department of Psychology, Assoc. Prof. Sandra Nakić Radoš, PhD, and Maja Žutić, PhD, delivered a presentation on Friday, 27 March 2026, at the 10th Symposium on Breastfeeding organized by the Croatian Association of Breastfeeding Support Groups (HUGPD).

Nakić Radoš and Žutić jointly presented a lecture titled “Negative Emotions During Breastfeeding: What Do We Know About Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex (D-MER)?” in which they introduced the latest findings on this under-researched yet clinically significant phenomenon, characterized by a sudden wave of intense negative emotions during milk let-down in mothers. In addition to the theoretical overview, they presented the results of a pioneering study on this phenomenon conducted as part of the research project funded by the Catholic University of Croatia: “Determinants, Outcomes, and the Interrelationship of Mental and Physical Health of Women During Pregnancy and After Childbirth (MumHealth).”

Beyond being among the first quantitative studies of this phenomenon, the researchers also developed and validated the first measurement instrument for D-MER in the world, which is currently being translated and validated in seven countries (Chile, China, Mexico, Portugal, the USA, Turkey, and the United Kingdom).
