The Fifth Edition of the Summer School "Practicing Resilience – Preparing for Recovery" Continues
Following the opening ceremony on June 12, 2026, the international program of the Summer School "Practicing Resilience – Preparing for Recovery" brought together experts and participants to explore and apply the concept of resilience through a series of theoretical lectures and practical workshops aimed at building resilience in individuals, families, and communities, as well as understanding business model innovations.
Over the past week, the academic portion of the program featured presentations by prominent foreign and domestic lecturers. Assistant Professor Francesca Giordano, PhD, from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Sacro Cuore) in Milan, introduced participants to the practical application of resilience frameworks with her lecture titled "Applying a Resilience Framework in Helping Relationships: what, why, and how?". Assistant Professor Lana Batinić, PhD, from the Catholic University of Croatia, provided a detailed analysis of the factors and processes that shape the human capacity for recovery, while Chiara Ottolenghi, PhD, from LUMSA University, delivered a presentation titled "Business Model Innovation: Risks and Benefits," focusing on the impact of innovation on organizational resilience. A look toward future challenges and the role of the individual in shaping tomorrow was offered by Professor Margarida Mano, PhD, from the Catholic University of Portugal, with her lecture "Can the Future Be Understood? – Understanding the Future."
Alongside the lectures, an official reception was held at the City Hall with the Mayor of Šibenik, Željko Burić. The reception was attended by the program participants, including students from the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, as well as youth from the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk who are currently staying in Šibenik as part of an intercity cooperation initiative.
Mayor Burić welcomed the attendees, highlighting the importance of international cooperation and intercultural dialogue. He especially emphasized the value of academic initiatives that connect young people from different countries around the themes of resilience, recovery, and social development.
