The Eighth Congress of Emergency Medicine was held in Vodice

The 8th Congress of Emergency Medicine for Nurses and Technicians with international participation was held in Vodice from 13 to 15 March 2025, organized by the Croatian Society of Emergency Medicine (HSDHM), and under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Croatian Institute of Emergency Medicine. The Congress brought together more than 350 experts from outpatient and inpatient emergency medical services, providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and the latest professional achievements. We are proud that our professors and associates were among the key participants and organizers of the Congress. We would like to especially emphasize that the President of the Congress was Saša Balija, a doctoral student at the Catholic University of Croatia and an associate at the BIP program of the University Department of Nursing, while Assoc. Prof. Damir Važanić, an assistant professor at the University Department of Nursing, played a prominent role in the organization and implementation of the program. Martina Mikšaj, a lecturer at our University with extensive experience in the field of emergency medicine, and Marino Čanađija, who coordinates the specialist training of bachelor's degree nurses in emergency medicine, which is carried out at our University, actively participated in the congress.

On behalf of the University Department of Nursing of the Catholic University of Croatia, the attendees were welcomed at the opening of the Congress by the Head, Assoc. Prof. Ivica Matić, who was also a member of the Congress Program Committee. During the meeting, he held a workshop on publishing scientific papers and presented an analysis of data on cardiac arrest care in Zagreb County, thereby making an important contribution to understanding current challenges in emergency medicine.

Through three rich days of lectures, workshops, panel discussions and professional networking, the Congress once again confirmed its importance as the central gathering place for emergency medicine experts in the Republic of Croatia.

We thank the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to participate in this significant event that further strengthens the bridge between science, education, and everyday clinical practice.
