Editor Domagoj Puškarić gave a guest lecture in the course “Reporting on Religious Topics”

Editor and journalist of the Religious Programming Department of Croatian Television, Domagoj Puškarić, was a guest lecturer on Thursday, 22 January, as part of the course Reporting on Religious Topics, taught by Assist. Prof. Suzana Peran, PhD, at the University Department of Communication Studies.

He spoke to second-year graduate students of Communication Studies, Journalism and Intercultural Communication track, about the specific features of covering religious topics in the context of television journalism, with particular reference to coverage of last year’s conclave.

Among other topics, he emphasized the importance of a solid knowledge of religious issues and continuous monitoring of current developments in this field, as well as maintaining good relations with religious communities, their representatives, and members.

As Puškarić has been employed at Croatian Television since June 2016, where he began his journalistic career as a reporter for the News Media Service in the domestic politics desk, he also spoke about the differences between reporting on domestic politics and on religion. The meeting concluded with Puškarić commenting on television reports prepared by students as part of the course exercises.
