Dr. Leali Osmančević Delivered Invited Lectures at County-Level Professional Conferences for Primary School Teachers

Dr. Leali Osmančević from the Department of Communication Sciences at the Catholic University of Croatia was an invited speaker at two county-level professional conferences for primary school teachers, held on 1 and 3 July 2025 at Matija Gubec Primary School in Zagreb. The conferences were attended by approximately 300 teachers, with the central theme focusing on the mental health of students and teachers.

On Tuesday, 1 July, Dr. Osmančević gave a lecture titled “Media Education and Digital Noise: The Impact of News and Social Media on Children and Teachers.” In her presentation, she highlighted how constant exposure to news and digital content affects the overall well-being of both children and teachers. She placed special emphasis on the role of teachers in fostering media literacy and critical thinking in the classroom.

On Thursday, 3 July, she delivered a lecture titled “On the Other Side of the Screen: Digital Empathy and Emotional Safety in the Classroom.” Dr. Osmančević discussed the importance of developing empathy in digital communication among children, understanding emotions expressed through messages, emojis, and social media, and the teacher’s role in creating an emotionally safe environment for students. The lecture sparked a discussion on ways teachers can strengthen students' emotional literacy in today’s digital context.

The conferences were organised by the Education and Teacher Training Agency (AZOO).
