PhD fellow Luka Poslon from the Digital Healthcare Ethics laboratory attended the international conference Catholic Social Teaching and Technology: Reimagining the Internet which was held at St. Xavier College in Mumbai, India, from March 11–13, 2024. This conference was an event within the framework of the global network SPIRE, a network coordinated by the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Social Concerns to engage in research and the signs of the times through a lens of Catholic social tradition.

The conference's objectives were to advance global research and create a genuine conversation about the history, present, and future of the Internet. Particular focus was placed on the research of the Indian context and the development of technology through the use of social media and artificial intelligence . The purpose of the conference was to foster a community of scholars and business leaders while examining the ethically significant issues surrounding the Internet and the effects of technology on society.

Poslon, our PhD fellow, participated in a panel discussion titled "Research Initiatives". He analyzed the ethical challenges that come with using explainable AI in healthcare and the effects that new technologies have on the healthcare industry in his talk.
